Description
Many people admire Jesus but misunderstand Him. Some see Him as a wise teacher, others as a moral example, and others as a distant historical figure. But Scripture reveals something far greater: Jesus is God in human form. He is the One through whom all things were created, the One who holds all things together, and the One who reveals the Father perfectly.
This study helps you see Jesus clearly. Not as culture portrays Him, but as Scripture reveals Him. When you understand who Jesus truly is, your faith becomes anchored, your identity becomes secure, and your relationship with God becomes deeply personal.
Core Scriptures
• Colossians 1:15–20
• John 1:1–14
• Hebrews 1:1–3
• John 14:6–11
• Matthew 16:13–17
Teaching Study Notes
Jesus asked His disciples one of the most important questions in history:
“Who do you say that I am?” Matthew 16:15
Your answer to that question shapes everything about your faith.
Scripture reveals Jesus as:
• The visible image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15)
• The Word made flesh (John 1:14)
• The radiance of God’s glory (Heb. 1:3)
• The exact representation of the Father (Heb. 1:3)
• The way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6)
• The One through whom all things were created (Col. 1:16)
This means:
• Jesus is not “part God” — He is fully God
• Jesus is not a messenger — He is the message
• Jesus is not a reflection of God. He is the revelation of God
• Jesus is not distant. He stepped into our world to make God known
When you see Jesus clearly:
• confusion lifts
• fear loses power
• Scripture becomes alive
• the Father becomes knowable
• your identity becomes anchored in truth
Jesus is not just the center of Christianity. He is the center of reality itself.
Reflection questions
• How have you understood Jesus throughout your life?
• What parts of His identity have felt unclear or confusing?
• How does knowing Jesus is the exact image of the Father change how you see God?
• What does it mean for your daily life that Jesus holds all things together?
Application
This week, read Colossians 1:15–20 slowly.
Write down every phrase that describes who Jesus is.
Then ask yourself:
• What would change in my life if I truly believed this?
• What fears would lose their power?
• What lies would no longer make sense?
Let Scripture reshape your view of Jesus, and through Him, your view of God.
Closing Prayer
Jesus, help me see You clearly.
Remove every false idea I’ve carried about who You are.
Reveal Your heart, Your character, and Your glory to me.
Thank You for showing me the Father and for holding my life together.
Teach me to walk with You in truth and confidence. Amen.
