• John 1:1–3

• John 14:16–20

• Matthew 3:16–17

• 2 Corinthians 13:14

Teaching Study Notes

God’s triune nature is not a human idea — it is God revealing Himself through Scripture. From the very first page of the Bible, we see the Father, the Word (the Son), and the Spirit working together in creation.

• Genesis 1:1 — the Father creates

• Genesis 1:2 — the Spirit hovers

• Genesis 1:3 — God speaks (and John tells us the Word is Jesus)

This pattern continues throughout Scripture.

The Father initiates, the Son reveals, and the Spirit empowers.

They are not three gods. They are one God in perfect unity, each Person fully God, each Person working in harmony.

We often miss this because we tend to read Scripture looking for isolated facts instead of relational patterns. But once you begin to see God’s triune nature, you start noticing:

• the Father sending

• the Son obeying

• the Spirit empowering

• all throughout the Bible

It becomes impossible to unsee.

This is why understanding God’s triune nature matters:

You cannot understand who God is, who you are, or how salvation works without seeing the Father, Son, and Spirit together.

Reflection questions

• Before this study, how did you understand the Trinity?

• Where have you seen the Father, Son, and Spirit working together in Scripture without realizing it?

• What lies or confusion have you believed about God’s nature?

• How does seeing God as relational and unified change the way you read the Bible?

Application

This week, read Genesis 1, John 1, and John 14 slowly.

Each time you see the Father, Son, or Spirit mentioned, pause and notice how they relate to one another.

Ask God to help you see Him clearly — not in pieces, but in unity.

Closing Prayer

Father, open my eyes to see You as You truly are.

Jesus, reveal Yourself to me in the Word.

Holy Spirit, give me understanding and clarity.

Help me recognize truth, reject lies, and walk in deeper relationship with You. Amen.
